RPC Data is currently the only certified Oracle reseller and service provider in Botswana, with branches in Zambia and Uganda. The company provides a full range of support services for Database and Application Servers, Development and Design Products and Packaged Applications. RPC has built up an impressive client base which includes parastatals, government ministries, government departments, commercial businesses and financial institutions. The company has negotiated support contracts for most Oracle users in Botswana. Revenue is primarily generated from three main sources, namely software sales and commissions, consulting fees and maintenance and support contracts. The key operating divisions and their strategies going forward are as follows: Software Products, Training, Consulting, Network Technologies, Computer Hardware Oracle As the industry continues to mature, Oracle has emerged as one of the most successful relational database technology companies in the world. RPC Data's decision to build its business around this technology has been vindicated. The most significant growth area is expected to be in the sales of Oracle’s Enterprise Resource Planning system known as Oracle Applications, recently renamed as the Oracle e-Business Suite. Other Applications Responsive to the different requirements of different organisations, RPC Data has developmed partnerships to sell and support other software applications, that include Accpac, Paywell, Mincom Ellipse and i-Flex. As an Oracle Authorised Training Provider, RPC is entitled to provide all the courses available through the Oracle University. RPC Data is also a certified Suse Linux Training Partner, and holds regular Linux courses. Support RPC started out as a technical services and support organisation and its strengths in this field have been maintained through its maturity. Installations of software applications almost always result in a long-term relationship between RPC and our customer. RPC has several types of Service Level Agreement available according to each customer's need. Development RPC has been developing applications for over 10 years. Increasingly organisations recognise that cost efficient applications can be developed locally, and these can be more suitable than a foreign package, developed without consideration for local needs or conditions. Implementation RPC Data has a team of ERP implementation consultants, specialising in Oracle Applications and Business Intelligence solutions. In response to continuing demand, RPC has also maintained implementation expertise for Accpac, and Paywell; and supports business partners with Mincom Ellipse, and i-Flex. Through our ASC Advancenet subsidiary, RPC has the capacity to service clients’ networking requirements and can provide professional advice on and implementation of small and medium size network solutions for corporate clients. Demand for both local area and wide area networks is expected to increase as corporations and public bodies begin to demand the benefits of networked information and access to Internet based technology. RPC Data is acknowledged as the primary source of Linux and other Open Source skills, and is an approved Novell Support Centre. Novell is the parent company of Suse Linux. ASC Advancenet stocks and sources a complete range of PCs, servers, peripherals, and consumables to ensure that customers can rely on their RPC representative for a complete, end-to-end IT solution service.
